End of May

We have done plenty of things these last few weeks, but haven't taken many fun pictures to post. I've gone shopping at the military base with mom and grandma...at least we benefit somewhat from a "grandpa" that is still alive even though he has wanted nothing to do with us for the majority of my life. Jeremy has been working away (except for the days that he and Zack claim it's raining so they can ditch work and surf). Arica turned 21. We had our one year anniversary! Jeremy took the day off from work and just hung out with me. Then for dinner he took me to Ruth's Chris...best fillet mignon ever (you pay for it believe me), and they gave us one dessert free because it was a special occasion!

We saw a few movies (Prince Capsian [loved], Indiana Jones [I really enjoyed although most thought it kind of lame], and Baby Mama [pretty hilarious although mildly predictable]). Our Memorial Day beach plans were shattered by some freakish cold front. We made my mom buy Cranium...but not just any Cranium, the new and updated Cranium WOW!

We have played this a couple nights in a row so far and it is amazing. We had been told that the biggest difference would be seen in the "humdinger" cards. I can tell you that this is not true. It makes generation gaps on the same team even more difficult because now if it is a newer song that we actually know how to hum the parent won't know it, and older songs are even more difficult to identify for us when the parents do know them. Also, the gnilleps ("spelling" backwards) cards are now for the whole team who has to alternate and each give one letter at time. I am pretty decent at those, but nobody else ever wants to do them with me :( Haha. All the same, it is a ton of fun. The last few weeks I have also been on a mission to convert all of our family videos from vhs to dvd. It is taking a lot of time because we have so many, but I hope that we can then post some fun little memories on here sometime. I'm almost finished (just five unlabled newer tapes left)! That is about it, so till next time...

Arica

Happy early birthday my sister. I miss you, so I decided to spend some time with you through video and created this new version of it...it's straight and our laughing is gone and now there's new music that you've probably never watched in combination with it before. Enjoy!

All hail the Galaxy!

We love soccer! Generous dad bought tickets for the Galaxy vs. Red Bulls game on Saturday. When Abby got asked to prom at the last minute Zack and Emily came along and took the extra tickets. It was a really great game even though Galaxy lost and the referee was handing out ridiculous yellows left and right. Good times.

May grays

The first week of being in California was promising. Was it the 25 degree difference from our last location? The sun actually coming through as opposed to gloomy cloudy days? The lack of snow perhaps? All of the above. The first week and a trip to Mexico tricked us...


Then the May grays set in (why are there two ways to spell gray/grey...so annoying). The clouds came out and the temperature dropped, but despite these events we still did not have to endure snow. I could still go out in flip flops and not have my feet be any colder than they usually are (ice cold to begin with). It was sad to lose the sun so quickly, but still much better than random flurries of snow. But the sun is back out today! And while this gives Jeremy a farmer's tan while he's out cutting concrete all day, it also makes us smile. Thank you California.

Moving on...

Well it's true everyone. And sorry once again for going so long between posts. I blame finals, graduating, moving home, and going to Mexico. Being done with school feels wonderful. Not having a job yet is a bit scary, but everything seems to be working out for us day by day. Jeremy is already working hard at his new concrete cutting job and earning the big bucks. The travel home was fun...our two cars caravaning with one pulling a trailer full of all our belongings (which surprisingly added little time to our journey).

On our way home we were able to stop and talk to my great-grandma Dorothy who has lived in Hurricane, UT my whole life but who I haven't been able to visit in all my trips back and forth from school. Jeremy was a little less than excited to visit some old lady he thought would be sick and on her death bed, but we were all surprised at how well she was doing. She shared lots of stories about my mom when she was younger and proved to have an incredible memory. I thought she was confused at which great grandchildren were there because she called me 'heart girl', and Alex was the one born with heart problems. But as it turns out, she always called me 'heart girl' because she remembered that I was born right next to Valentine's Day, crazy! It was really great to visit her.

It's really nice to be at home for good (five years later). Of course I miss Arica who still has a little while before her and Andrew get to come home forever too, but it will all be wonderful and gives us that much more to look forward to!
