Little Jeremy

The majority of people look at our baby and tell us how much he looks like Jeremy, which is funny to me since the majority also tell Jeremy and I that we look like brother and sister.  I feel like Beckett doesn't look as much like Jeremy's baby pictures as he does mine in face shape, eyes/eyebrows, hairline (that one is absolutely mine) etc.  Truth is, to me at least, he looks like Jeremy now and me when I was younger.  He's the perfect combination of both of us, but people usually choose to believe he looks solely like one of us only (come on people...genetics, plus it's true that Jeremy and I look similar).  You be the judge...
Beckett & Jeremy, 2-3 months
Me & Beckett, 7-8 months
BUT a few days ago I was snapping some shots of him and he made some faces that look INSANELY like Jeremy...
Yes, he is a Jeremy in miniature.

Meet Mr. Beckett

aka. Mr., sweet boy, the boy, boo, Becks, lil' stinker.  If you know him already, then you know that this picture sums him up pretty well.  If not, then please take note of the following:  his gorgeous eyes and lashes! (don't forget the constant eye boogies in his right eye that have been ever present since birth), his cute dimples on both sides, his drool soaked onesie (he chews on everything, yet not a tooth in sight), the food also on his clothes (he looooves to eat food!), the funny face (I love it so much, and for all the cute pictures he takes I thought it only fair to post one of the less attractive ones because he does make funny faces a lot and they are hillarious).  The only thing this picture doesn't capture is his non-stop wiggling!  I love him!

Dinosaur

So, boys from Ramona have this strange obsession with dinosaurs.  I don't know why, but they tend to draw them all the time, and in groups of Ramona boys I always hear them brought up in conversation.  In order to help Beckett embrace his Ramonian heritage he has a plethora of dinosaur clothes and blankets.  Grandma even bought him a walking, roaring dinosaur for Christmas.  We let the dinosaur have Beckett's pacifier the other day, and Beckett took it back with ease!
He looks like he just wants to push him over, but I think they'll still be friends!

Thanks Everyone!

I went with #3 because most people chose that and we liked it too.  I totally agreed about the eyes though.  I even tried to take more pictures of him hoping to capture his eyes like in some of the other photos but get the smile of #3, but no luck.  Well hopefully you're not sick of pictures of him because here are some more...I'm a little backed up with them!
Yum!
What?!...I wasn't doing anything.
Oh crib, just wait until she's not looking!  Grrr!

THE night.

On New Year's Eve seven years ago I was a senior in high school.  I was just getting home from work when I got a phone call.  I was planning to tag along at some stupid high school party with my best girlfriend, even though I was hoping something more fun would come up...and it did.  My friends Zack and Ian invited me to join them at the multi-stake youth New Year's Eve dance at the Black Mountain building in Penasquitos.  I called my friend, told her I was going to a dance instead, got ready, and drove to Poway to meet up with my friends and follow them there.  I still remember what skirt and shirt I put on, and driving the small stretch of the 56 (that then existed) for the first time behind Ian's VW van...aka "The Twinkie of Death".

We arrived at the church building, and there were a bunch of kids I didn't know sitting in the back of a truck belonging to someone I did already know as Scotty Olson.  I was introduced to a handful of new people from Poway and Ramona, one of which was named Jeremy Smith.  After waiting around for some more friends to arrive, we went inside.  I remember most of that night pretty well, but now the most fond memories from it are of when Jeremy asked me to dance, when we hung out at the Muir's after the dance, and then talking for a while with Jeremy at Ian's house after that.  We seemed to have a lot in common, and he was excited that I liked (at the time mind you) to surf as well as wakeboard and snowboard.  He got my number and said that he'd call me when he and Danny were up at Big Bear later that week when I would be there on vacation with my family.  (That leads to another funny story I promise to share later.)

So, that night we each met other people that we ended up dating rather than each other, but I did become good friends with the boy that I would one day marry.  I can honestly say that I had no idea at the time, not a clue that things would pan out the way they did, but I am so grateful for the way they worked out.  I always said that I wanted to marry someone that I was friends with first, and that is exactly what happened.  I'm so grateful that I met you that night Jeremy!  I love you!
